I am up now on the internet, so I am not doing too well. I had a “breakdown” a couple of nights ago and haven’t been doing well since. Hopefully, after this weekend I can pull things together.

I was so excited to clean my house and get prepared for the week.. laundry and food and cleaning… that I went to bed late, and when I got in bed, I was not able to sleep right away. I was too pumped up. The result is that I am a bit tired today.
However, I am happy with my progress. I got blackout curtains, a new mattress, and a white-sound machine for my bedroom. I am cautiously optimistic about this goal.
I tried my nightly routine, but it didn’t work. I went to sleep in the guest bedroom because I had problems with my room. I will try again tonight. Hopefully, I can get this thing right.
I already did this, so this shouldn’t be a problem. YAY. It looks great.
Also, I did walk at 4 PM and I did eat at 9 PM. YAY.
This routine should be followed Sunday-Thursday. I envision a routine that will be calming and help me wind down. The two most important details are that I am at home at 9 PM and that I limit my TV and internet time. After that, I will take positive steps to wind down such as tea, soft slippers, and restful activities. I understand that it may not work every night, but I am aiming at 80% success. Below is the routine I envision.
- Walk everyday at 4 PM.
- Come home and eat dinner before 9 PM.
- Watch TV or play on internet until 10 PM.
- Check to make sure house is locked.
- Go to bedroom.
- Brush teeth.
- Put on PJs.
- Make a cup of tea.
- Turn on white noise generator.
- Put together a puzzle or draw.
Things I need to do to ensure that this works:
- Clean and remove clutter from bedroom.
- Get curtains that block light.
- Get lots of soft PJs.
- Get white noise generator.
- Put couch in bedroom (for wind-down activities)
- Get some cute soft slippers and/or flip flops.
- Put night stand in bedroom.
- Open vents in bedroom, close vents in other upstairs location
to make it cold in the room.
