Wealth is built from investing

I have several friends who have become very financially successful and wealthy. The one common thread between all of them – it wasn’t their work that got them there (although they all had great jobs or businesses), it was what they did with their money: Invest all you can(stocks, real estate, etc), but be intelligent and don’t look for the short-term jackpots – they don’t work out much. Be frugal – none of them blew dough on frivolous items or things that were out of their budget. Oh yeah, budget – they all had a detailed one, and never, ever veered from it.
I need to try to develop the same discipline, but it’s a tall order.
