I’ve taken a better liking to my first name since moving away to school. In the big city, my name is unique and interesting, and people have even complimented me on it.
I still want to change my last name. At this point, I am thinking something that sounds like the letter “Q”, although the spelling would be an issue:
Que
Queue (‘tail’ in french… not great)
Cue (not digging the ‘c’)

I like the sound of Artemis. It’s damn near impossible to find a last name that matches with it, though.
Maybe I should just go by a new first name, Madonna-style.

I want to change my name. Preferably last, but I’m not ruling out the first.
In my case, it’s nothing to do with marriage or divorce or any of those situations that can be nominally confusing. Quite simply, I don’t relate to my dad’s side of the family at all.
My last name feels like a sticker; easy to wear, not really a part of me, and definitely not permanent.
I intend to pursue a career in film production. I want an alias and the ability to self-create. That creative side of me – the side of me that’s such a departure from my family’s background – feels like it needs to be properly acknowledged, not tagged by norm and custom.
I’ve decided I want a new name… now I just have to think of one.
