Joshua
Joshua is now 20 days old. He’s getting bigger and louder each day. We’ve had our ups and downs due a lack of sleep and Joshua’s love for playing at night. Myself I’ve been having problems with my joints. I have fluid on the knees and ankles which hurt constantly. My fingers and legs are still swollen and have been told this can take up to six weeks to subside.
Joshua has also been a bit ill, he has a cold at the moment and wind. He has also developed a skin rash on his face. Poor little thing. Besides that all things are well. I love having baby in the house again. Second time round even though it’s an 11 year gap is easier and I’m more chilled out this time round.

Baby Joshua arrived on the 8th May at 1.56am weighing 7lb 8oz and 49cm. The first stage of labour was 4hrs, which was quite easy and pain free because the contractions felt like braxon hicks, but the second stage was very intense, but only lasted 6 minutes and he shot out. The placenta took longer to come out, 11 minutes. On a whole I’m feeling exhausted but happy and grateful at the same time. Adam has taken 2 weeks off work to help out. I’m so lucky because I feel as if I was hit by a bus. Hopefully the hot baths should work a treat over these next few days.

Well it’s 41 weeks now and still no sign of baby. Tomorrow I have yet another appointment at the hospital to see if they will kick start me off or make me wait another week. I would have loved to have gone into natural labour, but it looks like I will be induced. I was induced with my daughter and that didn’t work, so in the end they had to break my waters to go into labour.
Let me take this opportunity to thank you all for your kind words, best wishes and support. Next time, God willing, I hope to post a picture of our little bundle.

With just over a week to go to full term, I can’t wait for the moment my waters break. On my last anti natal visit my midwife said he should arrive before this Thursday. I hope she’s right, because he weighs so much and is playing havoc on my bladder. I hope my labour will not be as difficult as my pregnancy. Hopefully this will be my last entry until baby is born unless I go into week 42. Ha ha.

Today I’m 36 weeks pregnant and I’m celebrating by vomiting again. I hate this condition I have. Just when you think it’s gone, it comes back with a vengence. I found out on Tuesday that I have low iron intake so I’m having to take iron tablets, that would explain why I’ve been having heart palpitations and breathlessness. To make things even worse, I found out that I have a conditon that could be transfered to the baby during labour. This is Potentially fatal if antibiotics are not given during and before the delivery. That means I will be hooked up to a drip during the whole of the labour. What makes it worse, was that this condition was picked up when I was first admitted into hospital with Hyperemisis Gravidarum back in October and I was not informed and I wasn’t given any antibiotics. Luckily for me, I had to go into hospital to be monitored on Tuesday, and the midwife at the hospital looked through all my notes on the computer and found this out. She flagged it up and has placed an alert on my medical notes. When I came back home, and read up on this condition, it has made me very worried. I am now thinking of asking for a C section, because there is less risk to the baby contracting this condition. I will speak with my consultant on this matter.

I’ve just got back from the hospital from my check up, and everything is ok with myself and baby. They took some blood test to check that I’m ok. The doctor says that the baby is now a good size and that they will not stop the labour if it now occurs.

On Sunday, I started getting contractions and was admitted into hospital for observation. Luckily I was not in labour, but they were concerned, because my cervix is now open. I had to beg them to send me home. I couldn’t sleep there. I wanted my own bed and bathroom. I promised them, that I would stay in bed and rest. I’m still getting contractions but they are not so painful. Therefore no more lifting a finger around the house for me.

I went for my anti-natal yesterday and was told that the baby is head down. I asked if it is likley that he would turn around again since I have 10 weeks to go. I was told there is a slight chance, but highly unlikely. Poor baby will be upside down for a long time. I’m quite happy because I was dreading a breech birth.

My brother took me out to an out of town complex to buy things for the baby. He took me to Mothercare wonderland, we took one step inside and thought “oh my Gosh” it was so big. So big infact I couldn’t wait to get out of the shop.
I wasn’t feeling the best as I nearly fainted in the shop before while buying baby clothes. It’s not so much fun as I thought it would be. I’m always tired now, no matter how much I rest. The best thing I can do is shop online. There is a baby show next month, I’m going to make a special effort to go. This would be a chance for the whole family to buy baby goodies together.
