The Pulaski Bridge runs over Newtown Creek, the dividing geographical feature between Brooklyn and Queens.
This bridge gets me to and from work (in Long Island City), every day.
It’s a draw-bridge and sometimes I’ll be stuck for a half-hour or so waiting for it to finish.
Also, while the bridge does have a pedestrian sidewalk, there are signs that ask cyclists to dismount and walk – though no one does, including me. A few times I’ve ridden over the bridge with the cars, but it’s pretty scary because they go much faster than they are supposed to and they hate on you a lot.
For this reason, the Pulaski Bridge gets a B- , though I am not ranking any of the other bridges.

I ride over this bridge quite a bit during my travels to and from Manhattan and my home in East Williamsburg.
It has a rather steep incline on both the Manhattan and Brooklyn side, I believe due to the fact that the bike/pedestrian walkway is situated high above the roadway.
Lately, as I descend from the center of the bridge, I’ve taken to leaning forward against the handlebars of my bike and lifting my hands into the air, much similar to Jack and Rose on the bow of the Titanic, and just as epic and exciting.

On the way to the South Seaport free Animal Collective show, I rode over the Manhattan Bridge. Weaving through traffic with another rider, we both temporarily stopped at a red light. The fellow asked me if I, too was heading to Pier 7 for the show. I looked up to answer, “yes,” but when I saw the chap’s face, I nearly fell over. From under my oversized white helmet, i could see that It was my old friend Ethan Goldwater, from university.
On the way back from the South Seaport free Animal Collective show, I rode over the Brooklyn Bridge. I stopped to read a bit of the history of the site from a plaque posted near the center of the bridge. As I made my trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn, I could only think that I preferred the Manhattan Bridge over the famed Brooklyn Bridge. Sure, the Brooklyn Bridge is a prettier site, but that is just what makes the trip across the Manhattan Bridge better – you have a wonderful view of the Brooklyn Bridge with Lower Manhattan in the rearground. :1
