but could do better, particularly in my primary field of expertise, historical collections. And so far, my progress has been erratic and done in spurts, and also, quite shamefully, encouraged by others. I need to take a much stronger hand in this.

This summer I started a research project on Mrs. Frank Leslie but haven’t progressed very far. I feel a strange kinship to this woman, plus, there hasn’t been much written on her since the 50s. If this were a dissertation topic, it would be prime (sigh).
