eat more locally grown food

at our CSA. Don’t know if we’ll be doing it again next year, but it sure is fun to be able to go out to a farm and pick up the food we’ll be eating …

On Tuesday my daughter and I volunteered for a couple of hours at “the farm”, as we call it. We bundled green onions & carrots, and boxed yummy yellow cherry tomatoes. I explained to her how we were doing it for people to pick up that night, just like someone does it when we pick up on Saturdays. She thought that was pretty cool.

is that I’m forced to find new recipes for veggies we don’t ordinarily eat. I actually like this, though the prep can take some time. Now if only everyone would eat it … !

Yesterday we got our first pickup from our CSA farm – lettuce, spinach, beets, green onions and strawberries! I had to work yesterday, but my husband and daughter went, and also had a great time picking those berries.

The day before I purchased free-range chicken eggs from a woman who’s raising them. It was great – the eggs were all different shapes and sizes, some even freckled. Can’t wait to eat them!
