I’m going to Japan in just over a week. I’m looking forward to it! Unfortunately, my Japanese has only got worse in the last year.

I’ve been going through some kanji and example sentences in the Ice Mocha tool on http://www.kanjicafe.com I highly recommend it. I’ve been using it for a while, but the recently added examples make it much more valuable.

I started trying to read http://www.sankei.co.jp/enak/2005/may/kiji/08bccross.html with the aid of a dictionary. Here’s words I looked up.

Kodo

Saw Kodo last night. Fan-bloody-tastic. I was at a talk beforehand. It was given by the artistic director in Japanese and translated by anothe guy. I picked out some words: kodo no membaa, ongaku, airurando, kangoku, nihonjin, koe, hitotsu, futatsu, soshite. Damn. There were others, but I can’t remember.
I picked out one bit in a song too: taiko no koe
Not enough to make sense of anything, but better than none, I suppose!
