Ways I saved money — 3 months ago
Being a mom of 3 kids going from a 4 bedroom house on a corner lot to a one bedroom apartment and on disability. I have realized just how worthless “stuff” is, and to tell you the truth, I am happier now than I have ever been. Ways I have saved money..shop your local thrift shops. I know sounds obvious but, put it into perspective, Jeans even at Walmart or Target are around the 25.00 mark, I buy mine at the thrift store for 99 cents a pair, I’m style concious so, I made friends with the woman who owned it, and now sometimes if shes sees something she knows I will buy for myself or kids, she sets it aside for me. I buy all my kids clothes there also, I shop in between seasons, buying winter stuff during spring, summer, buying spring/summer stuff in winter, when prices are cheaper.
2. My kids and I do a lot of ” free” things like going to the park, having picnics, grill outs with family and friends, we also enjoy lots of other activities for low to no cost by splitting the tab with people, for instance last week we invited friends from another apartment over and bought take and bake pizzas which cost 20.00, we split the cost ate pizza and used the coupon our cable company had given us for a free movie.
Believe it or not the little things is what adds up the fastest, the grab and go food, the coffee you buy every morning, pop, little expenses. Then when you start thinking about the bigger ones you realize theres a lot that you waste money on.
3. Plan your errands. Instead of driving from end of town to the other to accomplish everything, do all the errands in one part of town before moving to the next, you’ll save gas and time .
4. Never make appointments such as Drs. around meals times…because you tend to get hungry and then just grab something and go. Which in the end cost you more not only did you pay for the Drs. visit but, you spent the extra 5-10 dollars to eat.
5. Get on the budget plan for electricity if your town has it. The paln averages out what you spend in a year on your electric, and then you pay a flat rate, say your average is 90.00, ok for the next year you pay 90.00 every month, if your bill is less say 60.00 for a month then the extra 30.00 dollars goes into an account, and if you go over, at the end of the year they figure up your bill, and if you’ve overpaid you get hat money back in one lmp sum, if you had gone over the amount would be taken out of the account before your cut a check for the rest.
