I’ve put a digital timer by my computer and set it for 15 minutes. When I sit down at my computer, I hit start so it begins a 15 minute countdown. When the timer goes off, I have the choice of “snoozing” it for another 15 minutes or turning it off and getting up and leaving the computer. I’m not spending exactly 15 minutes on the computer (last night it was 45 minutes) but it does make me at least become more aware of the amount of time I’m sitting here, rather than looking over at my clock from time to time and going “Whoa! how’d it get so late already“
I’m going to start logging my 15-minute increments spent each evening and see if I can reduce it evening by evening.
My home computers have been on their last legs for months now (what a waste of money to be paying for DSL!) and I recently quit my desk job. The only significant time I have online is when I use the computer at my parents’ house, and my dad rags on me the whole time for “spending all my time on that damn computer.”
My new computer will be delivered in a few days. Let the binging begin!!!
