become a people person - strike up conversations or small talk with strangers

rubbish at this. im fine to keep talking with them if they innitiate conversation. but its rare that i do the initiating.

a fantastic chat with my taxi driver yesterday. he was quite a knowlegeable chap. talking aobut work and life and going after what u want in life in terms of work and studies. etc. we were comparing our work and life situations :)

this goal will be hard for me, because i have never considered myself a people person and i definately avoid starting conversations with strangers with all my might. i think its a shyness thing, and a inferiority complex

but i have decided that i need to work on this aspect of my character, as for the career that i want to get into, i have to deal with and manage very influential/important people as well as all the other folk… so it would stand me in good stead to overcome my shyness and stop thinking everyone is better than me, and i dont want to talk to them… let me hide in the corner till they’re gone etc…

i even try and avoid doing it at work where we are encouraged to chat with our customers… i usually only do it if they are really nice friendly chatty people.

so im going to try and strike up conversations or make small talk with different people from all walks of life, male and female, young and old… affluent and not so affluent etc… in a bid to build up my confidence so i dont feel so shy when i start applying for jobs and when i finally get a “career”.

i can do this in my work, where i am in contact with people all day long, i can easily start a conversation if i try, (obviously i will be reading people, and know when not to speak to someone as they obviously wont appreciate it, and they are there to chat with their friends etc not their waitress) or on my commute to college or in college, or when shopping or walking somewhere or with friends of friends or whereever… possibilities are endless.

i jsut need to work on this cos i dont consider myself much of a people person and i will need to be, to get ahead in future.

but yeah it will be hard
