Saved another £42 last week. I’ve got a few things to buy for my holidays this week so I might not be able to save very much but at least I’ve made it over the £1000 mark.

I’ve saved another £47. Every little helps etc etc.
I’ve moved it into my savings account to avoid the temptation to blow it all. Touch wood.
Well, I saved a little over £50 last week but I’m kind of thinking of spending it on a Nintendo DS Lite towards the end of the month so I’m not patting myself on the back too vigorously on this one!
My great-aunt just sent me a cheque for £200 so that is going straight into my savings along with the £100 standing order I set up for the first of the month. I’ve cancelled my extortionate gym membership from July so that will save £72 a month.
Ideally I’d like to have £1000 by the end of June – fingers crossed!
Well, I’ve put a few quid in my change jar but that isn’t going to keep me going for long! I spent too much money at the start of this month to have much hope of saving anything substantial. Still, at least I haven’t spend any of what I’ve saved so far and I’ve cut down on my spending so I’m optimistic that by next month I’ll be able to save more.
This is going to be difficult as I’ve just bought a flat and started a pension (there’s a whole sensible-financial-decision pattern here) and I’ve not had this little disposable income in quite a while.
This savings idea is linked to my ‘Stop buying unnecessary things’ goal and I’m hoping they’ll work together nicely.
I’ve got a £100 a month standing order set up at the moment to go into a savings account and I’ve just opened a savings account with higher interest which will help a bit. If all goes well on the spending-less front then hopefully I should be able to gradually increase the standing order.
Eventually I’d like to have something substantial saved up so I can travel and complete one of my other goals ‘cycle round japan’.
