finish my masters thesis

My MFA thesis was due on September 22 with all the paperwork and it all got done so I’m offically DONE with grad school!

I still need to reformat, but I got the signatures. Check it off, FOUR YEARS LATER!

I am not ready to say this is “done” yet because I need to hear about whether or not it needs changes or revisions from my two readers. But when they approve of the thesis, sign the papers, and it is deposited, I will call this “done” because then I will be done with grad school and I will have myself a big ass party.

I must be finished with my first draft by the end of this week. That will be 90% of the battle. Hell week here I come!

A few phone calls to key people has helped me tremendously. The end might be in sight now…hooray! I’ll just need to spend less time fooling around on the net and more time pounding out revisions at the coffee shop. Toodles.

And she’s back on the horse with me. What a relief! I was sure she hated me by now. I should be done by August, with lots of prayer. I’m planning to send her another packet of work in one-two weeks (so that’s by June 8 at the latest). My head hurts just thinking about it. I CAN DO THIS! Right?

Goes a long way. I just found out that a woman I knew years ago (through an old boyfriend) was in a car accident nine months ago and is now a quadriplegic. She is one of those amazing people who gives herself away – a pastor, an amazing singer, loves kids and is full of life – and she is still counting her blessings even though she is now confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Her husband escaped the accident with only minor injuries. Talk about lighting a fire under me…she spends two hours per entry updating her blog by typing with a stick in her mouth. Time for me to count MY blessings and finish this project with no fear.

I am afraid of you masters thesis. I don’t want to play with you anymore. I want to play with 43things.com instead.

it’s my thing. I am trying to finish a book of short stories (my thesis for an MFA in creative writing) and it won’t GET finished. I’m off campus and have experienced some major life changes - ahem, getting married and moving 1500 miles! - and have been more than mildly challenged to get my nose back to the grindstone. Time is ticking away and I’ve lost track of my advisor…What the crap is right! Too bad this dang website can’t count toward it. I started out calling it my “warm up” session. Except sometimes I never get to what comes after the warm up. OOps.
