I talked with A, a mom from another family that is really interested in this, too. They have plenty of land to grow a community garden on. I think we can work well together – we have a lot of the same ideas.
She knows of another family who wants to participate and we have a friend-in-common that wants to get involved as well. So that makes 4 families. That’s a good number for this year, since we are all still learning and we don’t want to this project to get bigger than we can handle.
I think we’re going to have a face-to-face meeting towards the end of February. That gives me time to do some research and brush up on my plant knowledge!

My Objectives
Meeting this goal successfully means:
Intellectual- contributing and learning by researching gardening techniques and plant care
- helping to organize and plan the garden
- taking part in meetings by sharing ideas and working with others to make win-win decisions
- determining what expectations others have of me
- being careful to only obligate myself to the things that I can realistically handle
- staying in communication on a regular basis
Emotional- interacting with others in a civil, courteous, and considerate tone
- not over-thinking or worrying about minor personality nuances
- being tactful but honest about my feelings
- staying true to my commitments to avoid conflicts and guilt
Physical- showing up to do the work in a timely manner
- keeping to the agreed schedule and do the physical tasks needed to fulfill my field hours, such as preparing the ground, planting, weeding, weekly care of the crops, harvesting
- taking care to make good use of the food so it is not wasted after harvest through meal planning or preservation methods (canning, freezing, drying)
