Buh-Bye Perkins Loan 13 months ago

Today is a monumental day because I finally paid off my first student loan in full. My 5K Perkins loan is now history. I put the final check in the mail today. 5K down, 12K in Stafford loans to go.

Ah, the Beauty 19 months ago

I was shocked and awed by the bill for this month’s Perkins loan. I have under $700 left to pay off of what started out as a $5500 debt back in 2003.

I am ecstatic! I will be able to pay off this loan before the end of the year!!! That’s $176 a month I can put toward something else, like RENT!

This morning I sent out the latest payment on my Perkins loan. Once it goes through I will have less that 2K left to pay back on this particular student loan. Yee haw!

Yes! My application for student loan consolidation was accepted!!! Starting August 1st my monthly payments will be about forty dollars less. Not a huge savings, but enough to save me almost five hundred dollars a year. That little bit of extra cash each month will go toward paying my ever rising cable/internet bill.

Consolidation 3 years ago

Welp, I took a step towards this on June 29th when I submitted an application for consolidation. If I’m approved at least my interest rates won’t go up, thus saving me a little dough in the coming years.
