it’s my second week of my degree course and i’m meeting new people (especially muslims) every where. i do want to meet converts because i am a convert myself, and i want to discuss, share ideas and simply relate to them.
my parents converted when i was younger (when i was around 3 years old), but i was truly conscious about learning more and actually serious about practising when i entered high school.
i’m learning things about islam everyday, by experience. from the people i meet, to the books i read. i’m getting my hands on sufi books. someone once told me that islam is a house and sufism is like hanging beautiful drapes or curtains in your house.
i’ve always been a fan of Rumi. we don’t have a madhab at home. i don’t know if i’d call myself ‘religious’, but i’m calling myself a ‘muslim’. i love reading (authentic) hadiths because it’s as if i’m holding conversations with the Prophet (pbuh). i’m open to different islamic view points, be it ‘liberal’, ‘conservative’ or whatever, and if you think that i’m wrong, i really don’t mind. :)
