I really do suck at drawing. My problem, especially now, complicated by my health issues, is not the product, which looks good, but the efficiency of my process getting there. I never developed a solid method and so, as they are fond of saying in manufacturing parlance, my process “generates waste”. Getting faster at drawing is going to be crucial for the next several years of my life. Practice, practice, practice…

I discovered that I haven’t drawn in so long that I’m officially out of practice. The last thing I drew was a month ago, and it was realism; I’ve lost focus on the cartooning style I’ve been trying to cultivate.
Now, I was going to set up a routine for writing that involved me waking up entirely too early and writing before work—maybe I should alternate between writing and drawing…
Style is starting to gel. ‘Bout damn freakin’ time! I’m sort of crazy about this—once I finalize character designs I don’t want them to evolve too much over the duration of the story, so I’m drawing and re-drawing them until they start to settle in my hand.
KP’s going to kill me. I’m modeling the appearance of one of my characters after him.
No part of anyone I know ever makes it into my comics unless they’re have something to do with my neuroses.
After I finish writing that &%$#ing script, there’s no one else I’d trust to put it on paper.
I actually still hate how I draw (cf. list item “rebuild my portfolio”). I have a lot of stylistic issues I’m wrestling with which is really #$%&ing up my attempts to solidify my character designs for this project.
But I’m not going to hunker down until after November, when I get my immediate projects out of the way.
