I love it when it rains in Portland. Why, you ask? Because it means that snow is lazily finding its way to Mount Hood, and some of that snow will be under my board soon.
I’m not someone you’d be likely to mistake for an athlete. That said, I do love to snowboard. It’s a combination of skateboarding and surfing, with none of the drawbacks. Unlike skateboarding, there’s no risk of tripping and receiving road rash. Unlike surfing, there’s no risk of being eaten by a shark. There’s also no risk of attractive members of the opposite sex seeing my pasty white programmer flesh. So, double bonus there.
I’ve picked up a weekday season pass to Timberline, probably most famous for being the backdrop for the movie The Shining. I look forward to roaming the mountain like a maniac with my board strapped on, slaughtering kickers and pillaging rails anywhere they can be found.
