music phone

i got a nokia 5300 music phone not too long ago, and now i can listen to music whenever and wherever…. battery time willing of course. and i’m realizing i like eclectic music, different styles that aren’t mainstream. i have some chinese/mandarin hiphop songs that reach an interesting timbre of sound that i just love. pity though that classical and pop/rock music aren’t recorded at similar volumes. i guess i would prefer noise-cancelling/isolating earphones to hear the music better.

3 a day

so i have a pretty good library of digital music now. i have so many cds that i did have digitized, but i had to revamp my computer so i lost pretty much everything. plus i’m having a tough time deciding what format i want to code them in. the player i have right now is rather small (512 mb), and the lossy format that does best at low audio quality is OggVorbis. i just can’t find a good encoder as of yet. so now i’m just having everything in wma lossless, which pretty costs me about 10 mb a song. if i remember, i can get 3 to 5 cds encoded, which means a lot more music to listen and mix to. i have this program that analyzes music and can create mixes based on what the song sounds like. it’s a fabulous thing. next step is for me to actually remember the specific songs that i like the most to create a favorites list.

listening time?

I love music, have considered music as a course of major, but I don’t know about how much time I can dedicate to listening to music, because I do so much other stuff already. Time management maybe is key, for 1 hour comes to just about 15 songs, and 10 minutes (3 songs) a day easily comes to 3000 minutes (1000 songs) a year. A little here and there can go very very far.
