So here’s the deal: I’m 25, and have (with the exception of the months I’ve travelled here and there) lived in England my whole life – just outside London, and for a couple of years right in London.
I’m a dual citizen – I hold passports for both England and America, and I’m thinking maybe now is the time to relocate to America, as my life here seems to be going nowhere, and on returning from travelling a few months recently, it was a real wake-up call to discover how few real friends I really had.
Moving to San Francisco has been a dream of mine since being a teenager, although I have never been there, I have often heard it has a great ‘creative/arty/bohemian’ scene, and I like the idea of it being a walkable city (I’ve never learnt to drive).
My main concerns are finding work and accommodation. I have lots of office (yawn) experience – mainly customer service, and also experience as a barmaid (but just really pulling pints – no cocktails). I am not afraid of hardwork, having pulled off 2 jobs, 7 days a week in the past. I just want a new life, meet new people and enjoy my freedom! Will it be hard to pull off? I assume to get work, I’ll need a bank account, and to have a bank account I’ll need a fixed address, and so forth? eeeekk!! It’s all a bit daunting and I want to make sure it’s worthwhile!
