A missionary and an author who loves teens and God 17 months ago

9. Elizabeth Elliot – I’ll be learning more about her soon when I read her book, Passion and Purity, but I know that she was married to Jim Elliot and they were missionaries. Jim was killed by the missionaries he tried to reach and Elizabeth continued to minister after his death. She, like many people on my list, saved sex for marriage.
10. Susie Shellenburger – A single woman who, after being a drama teacher and youth pastor, became the editor of Brio magazine and a minister to teens across the world. She has written many books for teen girls.

Sextuplets and Grands 18 months ago

6. Jenny Masche – Wife, Christian, Mother of Sextuplets… (http://www.maschemiracles.com/)
For parents of multiples, it is easy to succumb to the lie that some doctors tell you: It is okay to have an abortion so you won’t have to endure the uncomfortable and risk-filled pregnancy and life of quintuplets/sextuplets/septuplets/etc. Believe me when I say: It is a LIE! It is not okay to kill a child, regardless of whether he/she has a physical or mental defect, is part of a multiple birth, was the product of a rape or incest, or just because you don’t want a child. It is not okay. Ever. And Jenny & her husband Brian are not alone…
7. Kate Gosselin – She and husband Jon are parents of 8 year old twins and 4 year old sextuplets. (That makes 8 kids!) She refused abortions because they wanted to keep every child God blessed them with. Strong Christians. Now they have their own TLC show, Jon and Kate Plus Eight.
8. My Grandmother – Once again: A strong Christian (Just can’t get enough of ‘em!). Lives alone now that her husband died. Keeps up a difficult job with an impossible boss, manages her house and garden, and spends tons of time with her grandchildren.

5 women that I admire 18 months ago

1. The Headmistress (but she prefers “Acting Head of School”) of my school – She manages PreSchool – grade 12 and oversees the bookkeeping, financial records, facilites… Everything! And she is an amazing Christian. People really respect her.
2. Rosa Parks – Refused to give up her bus seat to a white man. She took a role-model stand for rights.
3. Harriet Tubman – Risked being captured several times to go back and free more slaves. Inspirational and strong.
4. Corrie Ten Boom – Hid Jews in her home during World War II and continued to serve God even after being captured and sent to a concentration camp. She survived the camp and went on to help many more people.
5. Laura Bush – First Lady. A strong and beautiful woman who has done much for literacy. She embodies grace under fire and unconditional love.

38 to go!!
