Just remembered whilst killing time on LJ that I in fact am presiding over TWO networks!
The LJ one is meant to be self maintained and giving time will be, hopefully.

I am quite good at networking and in that respect I am quite efficient at putting people & teams together. I am good at ‘linking’ individuals with a common interest.
This is what I imagined Arts Admin to be about when we studied it. It wasn’t. It was more about paperwork, funding bodies and applications and keeping tracks and managing budgets. Which I don’t do.
When I first got my title at the theatre company I work for I was very pleased as it combined the bits of Arts admin i was good at with the bits of my social network that could open doors. Being a creatives co-ordinator was a lot more vibrant and there was a lot more in-face work to be done.
Likewise, when I first organized the first couple of photo shoots I co-ordinated, I found myself suprised at the ease of bringing together those creatives that was required. It is pretty simple in my eye. Meet someone, identify what their skills are, file away information, finally retrieve as needed and connect – pretty simple stuff, wouldn’t you say?
