I knew this would happen 20 months ago

I wanted to lose weight gradually, simply by making a couple of life style changes.
Since my mom made me get on that scale, and I have realised how much I have lost, it has become a bit of an obsession.

I am not saying I don’t want to lose the weight – oh hell no. I do want to get back to a reasonable dress size and shape again, but I do not want this to become my obsession.
Already, when I exclude certain foods, my daughter asks if it is because of the diet. with most foods, it isn’t, it is because it negatively affects my health in some way, like inflaming my joints.

but, maybe a little focus would be good. that way, i may still make my june deadline of 15kg down.

Paying off 20 months ago

We went to visit my mother today, and the first thing she said was ‘wow, you’ve lost weight’.
She made me weigh myself, which I loathe doing, and I had lost around 8kg (roughly 17lbs, i think).

Yayness.

I was hoping to fit into the pants I bought by the time my husband and I go away on holiday (18 April), but I am not going to push it too fast. And, at the current rate, I won’t quite make it for my June/July deadline, but I will make it for my December deadline.

I have a lot more energy than I had a couple of months ago, and I am not sure if it is simply that my thyroid is healthier, or if it is the change in diet.
But I feel a lot better already. And that is the ultimate goal.

finally, a bit of change. 21 months ago

I am finally beginning to feel better.

I have cut red meat out of my diet as much as possible, and instituted a ‘minimum 2 fruit a day’ rule in the house. have also tried to cut out starches, especially potatoes, as much as possible, and, today, i finally noticed a difference.
i put on a pair of pants that were rather tight a month ago, and today, i could even fit my hands into the pockets.

i have to add that i have not cut chocolate out, but i have reduced my intake. i have also replaced crisps/chips with popcorn.

and sushi is my friend.

the last week has been tough again. with the power problems, i have not been able to cook every day, and we have been eating a lot of junk again. we also went out for supper twice in the past week.

starting over sucks, but i have to.

I should add that I want to lose 15kg by 1 June 2008 :)

easy peasy, right?

i keep saying, in an abstract sort of way, that i want to lose weight. and the more i say it, the more i gain. i now weigh more than 100kg (220lb?) and i am uncomfortable in my own body. it is time for action.

i often wonder how the celebs – those super skinny ones – managed to shed the pounds so quickly. i don’t particularly want to stick my finger down my throat, or live on celery sticks. but, i need to lose at least 20kg, and i would prefer to lose most of it this coming year (2008).
so, plan:

1. join the gym (again), and actually go!
2. smaller portions
3. no more junk food/fizzy juice
4. stick to a block of chocolate every couple of days, rather than a slab every day.

this should get me going.

and, possibly, i should attach conditions. like… i am allowed to buy books when i reach smaller targets.
