get a college degree

so i have transferred to another school this year, and for the past nine weeks have been on a break as we move into a new house. i am really looking forward to the next session starting up on the 14th. i ordered my books the other night, so they should be arriving in a week. i am also going to load up my schedule and i shifted my minor concentration from Business to Math, especially as i have been getting more involved in an independent study of chaos mathematics and science lately, i feel that this is a smart move for me in my quest for greater knowledge.

Today, after church, we got home and I started to read up for today’s writing assignment, and EJ just went berserk. She wanted mommy mommy mommy mommy and Steph was trying not to have the little sucker attached all day long. It was a terrific battle and my heart went out to both of them, particularly as I go through it frequently.

I had to put new batteries in my maglight so that I could sit in my closet, very small apartments call for drastic measures, and read. Finally, I was able to get some information into my head and EJ and Steph reached an impasse in their battle for control and I was able to write my paper as the little squeakazoid fell asleep for the afternoon nap.

While Steph has gone into the city, leaving me to watch Eliza-Jane for the night, I am able to delay working on my essay for philosophy class. In fact, I have been able to consider washing the dishes, cleaning off my desk, reconfiguring my laptop and optimizing its performance much more exciting and important to do than to write about the effects of Hegelian idealism on Continental Philosophy. Oh well, I guess that’s an existential predicament if I ever had one.

Due to our upcoming trip out of the country, I am compressing the timeline for the first two-thirds of the current study block, so that I am not working on the computer all night while we are in our tropical hideaway. So, today I worked on an assignment and finished it and posted it. But during the course of the day, I needed a break to continue working. And my family needed Daddy.

So, I took a break, we left the house and got on a bus headed out towards the sea. We rode all the way to the end of the line and found a pizzeria place and had a couple of sandwiches and watch some world cup football on a fuzzy telly.

Then EJ and I played ball in the car park with a baseball we found on the way, while we all waited for the bus to return to take us back home. It was a silly sort of outing with no real purpose, but we were together and we all had a great time. Steph got out early and bought some shoes as Eliza-Jane accompanied me back to college.

LAst monday, I started a course on Geology and today I had the first day of Introduction to Philosophy. There is a magical connection between these two classes, called teh Philosopher’s Stone. MAybe I’ll find it in the next nine weeks.

so all day today after church, i was working very hard to write a paper that i had to turn in tonight. ej was grumpy and totally missed her nap in the afternoon, in fact she did not get much of a nap yesterday either as we went to the zoo with Steph’s friend from Oz.

But I digress.

The paper was hard and difficult to research and I did not want to do it, but finally, I was able to finish it. I understand that college is difficult and I am not sure that I will be able to finish it, but I will keep trying to do the work one assignment at a time for now.

I missed a deadline last week for my second class by three minutes and the instructor gave me a zero on the final assignment which counted for three quarters of teh grade! Grrr! I am so pissed! At myself at her and all sorts of other things like, like amputators! Yeah, Amputators!

I busted my hump all day today and got Steph to proof read it, and now I have turned in my big paper. It’s here if you really want to read it, (PDF)

I have been finishing up the big project for thisclass block this week so I have not been writing much about my life. WEll, basically, because my life has been mostly thinking about how to write this final paper. It’s due tomorrow which is the final day of the course, then monday the next set of classes begins. I have not set up my course schedule for the next set of lasses yet which is sort of scary, but I guess in the beginning I’ll have time to get that done, right now this paper must be finished.

Well this week is going to be difficult as I have to rewrite my paper and then submit it next Sunday, and the second block of classes will be over. But there is a second class that is happening at the same time and well there are assignments that need to be completed in that as well. Grrr! I’m sure I’ll get through it.
