Eliza-Jane has been eating lots and lots of bananas lately. She will go through a bunch in about two days. So the other day as I was feeding the last of a bunch to her, I remarked to Steph that “maybe we need to get a bigger bunch next time.” So, yesterday she placed an order on Fresh Direct for our groceries, and she told me that we were getting a bigger bunch.
Tonight, the delivery came. There was the normal four boxes of stuff plus this one big box wrapped in, well, basically it was tinfoil coated bubble wrap. And it was heavy. So after signing for delivery, I opened it up to see what was in it.If you have been paying the slightest bit of attention to the way things work around here, you will not be surprised to find out that we are now the proud owners of an entire case of bananas.
An Entire Case of Bananas.
We can go nuts and not worry about running out of bananas. If you aren’t laughing with us, you should at least be laughing at us. This is going to be great!

Tonight after we got home from a really moving service at church, I cooked dinner. Pork Chops and mashed potatos, and I got the pork chops just right – not too much breading, cooked to the right temperature, the flavor was subtle, and teh mashed potatos were nice and creamy texture, with a little bit of cheese thrown in. We set the plates down on the table and the first thing that Eliza-Jane did was saddle up to her mother and reach out a grabbed a nice piece of okra and popped it into her mouth.
Boy! We could hardly eat for having to feed that little creature. Slicing up morsels of pork chops, slapping some fried okra on her plate; oh yes, she has to have her own plate now days otherwise we don’t have a plate for ourselves. She was eating the food faster than we could serve her – she is such a good eater. And this makes us much better at eating because we have to make an effort to feed ourselves and to feed ourselves good food so that she can share with us.

Last night, Steph made a wonderful meal of Blackened Blue Fish and a Caesar’s salad. It was wonderful – we live in a neighborhood that has a large West Indies population so we can get good Jerk sauce and she applied it quite liberally. The fish was awesome – I love having HOT HOT food, and this was one of the better dishes I’ve had. The Lil Bug was very brave, She ate the rice and the tomatos and even tried the fish. She liked the fish itself, but the Jerk sauce was the first time there was anything too spicy. She stood there and screamed out, since she was munching on a crouton at the time, I thought she was choking and picked her up and thumped her back. Then Steph put water in her mouth and everything was all better. We are still laughing about how she looked like a little fire breathing dragon once we had figured out what was going on.
She continued to eat after that and was fine, just as long as she did not have the jerk sauce straight. What a good little eater!

I recently told the doctor that EJ is eating “Mommy’s milk and whatever is in Daddy’s Hand.” This may be true however, it made me think about what it is that she is actually eating. I have had such trouble with feeding myself, that I need to be more mindfull of what I am eating, especially as it determines what sort of stuff EJ is eating. So I set up a text document that I can just zip the latest food into, and on the date of the next doctor’s visit I’ll email her the list and that question will be answered much more exactly. It may even be more healthy, for both of us.
