I started taking karate in 2003. I love karate, I love the confidence it gives me, the great feeling of knowing I can be safe, all the time, no matter what.

I’m up to my purple belt, which is just a few ranks below black belt. And I need to get back into it, I’ve taken a huge long break, for no real reason, I just haven’t been able to muster the motivation to go back.

I miss Mr Cook teaching my classes, I think, is part of it.

I lost a lot of weight in the beginning, and then I started putting weight on, muscle building. And I have muscles, I can’t deny that, but I also have this pouch/pooch of skin from when I had my daughter and I know it won’t ever go away, not without plastic surgery and I’m not that vain, I don’t think. I’d rather have the pouch and the stretch marks than one long obscene scar across my stomach.

I’m 5’9” and I weigh 192 lbs.
