be more of a mad scientist

On hold; I have two weeks off from work!!

I work in a medical research laboratory that studies HIV, Atherosclerosis, and Multiple Sclerosis disease process using models such as mice and rats that are bred to express a mouse-version of the disease. Its fascinating work; I’m the most junior person in my lab, but I like to pretend. My coworkers seem to think I’m clever enough to keep up. I don’t think I can do this for a living, though. It takes so much creativity to come up with a hypothesis, and a lot of reading and book-smarts as well.

A lot of the work I do has to do with bone disease; have you ever thought to flush out mouse bone marrow with a syringe? Its grueling. I did this all summer 2005, and it still gives me nightmares.

My goal is only to be more of a “mad scientist” because I’d like to explore a little more in this area of science. And maybe do something other than pop mouse testicles after they’re sacrificed and ready to be incinerated.
