Last year I tried to buy most of my Christmas gifts at local stores and I’m going to try that again this year. So far I’m not off to a good start being that I’ve only bought two gifts and one is from the Christmas Tree Shop and the other from Bed Bath and Beyond, but from now on its all local!!

I bought my first Christmas present the other day at a local store that sells goods by local artistians, a really cute cooking apron for my sister, made by a woman who lives in town. I saw a few other things there that would be great gifts, so I will have to go back soon!
For Easter, instead of getting my boyfriend some candy from say Wal-Mart I got him some Burdicks chocolate which is made in a neighboring town at a locally owned store. Plus I got his birthday card at a small shop.
My goal was to do all my shopping at smaller locally owned stores and that didnt quite happen. I got my brothers present at tj maxx and my sisters at coach but I got both my secret santa with my friends and my work, plus some stocking stuffers for my boyfriend at small stores so thats good. I only have my parents left and Im going to get them a basket of locally made foods and wine at this store called Hannah Grimes in my town which only sells things by local artists, farms etc. And Ill try to find my boyfriend something at a smaller store as well.
The Christmas season is coming around and this year I want to attempt to buy all Christmas presents at locally owned stores, no chains. I think its possible.

Yesterday I went food shopping at Shaws and bought a hydrangea which was all nice and pretty and so I bring it home and within like 3 hours its dead and all wilted. Okay maybe my apartment is a little humid, but it didnt even last a day! So ealier today I went to a farmers market in town and bought a bouquet of flowers and its been hours and hours since buying them and they’re still in perfect shape! Woohoo for locally grown flowers!!
I got a birthday card for my dad today at Target and afterwards felt guilty because I always get my cards at privately owned shops. Bad me! I’ll make it up by getting his present at a locally owned store.
