My best friends Theresa and Brian have a new daughter. Her name is Selene Helena Schulz and she came into this world in our house on Sunday, September 25, 2005 at 5:54 am EST. I assisted as a doula in the delivery, and all 5 lbs, 0 oz of her was caught by her very proud papa. Mother and baby are doing spectaular (both 9’s on the APGAR scale) and Theresa had no tearing from what she says was a relaxing, natural home birth. Selene was born with her birth waters (a caul baby!) in just one push.

My best friend is due in late September of this year. She is having an at-home water birth, and has asked me to be her doula in the Bradley Method of childbirth. After this amazing even occurs, I’m planning on taking classes in November at a local DONA (Doulas of North America) class near my home.
