Jimmers had a vast array of fancy dress items out and had been dressed up in a wig, making a tea party whilst wearing giant monster feet.

He stopped and stood absentmindedly twiddling with his bits. I asked him if he was ok and if his bits were hurting. ‘No’ he said ‘I’m just thinking of something to do’.

Many males seems to think that’s a good think to do when you can’t think of anything better!

The nursery gave me a folder of bits and bobs when Jimmers left including some photos of him and his friends over the past two years. He picked up a photo from about a year ago and said ‘Don’t we look young here. Look at Bartholomew’s hair!’ He sounded so grown up, like he thought he was an adult, it was hilarious!

I am so grateful to the nursery for the lovely memories they have given us.

Little Stinky Pinkleton loves any sort of singing or music at all. I really can’t sing to save my life but I love how she recognises even my most awful ‘singing’ to be music and starts bopping up and down. Sometimes she will hear just a short snippet of music or something quiet in the background and she suddenly start jigging around. One of her favourites is the theme tune to ‘The Life and Times of Tim’!!

When we took her to see her sister in ‘Hairspray’ I swear she was copying some of the moves the dancers were doing!!

...sun shining, an impromptu visit to the beach, Jimmers balancing on the way, running on beach, screaming as the cold licked our toes, laughing, playing with our shadows, baby sleeping in her pram at the waters edge as we chase the waves.

Perfect sunny April afternoon.

On the morning of my sister’s wedding Jimmers woke his teenage sister up and said ‘you’re all covered in spots….let me count them….1, 2, 3, 4, that’s a mole skip that one, 5, 6….’. Then he turned to me and said ‘Mummy she’s like the dog in that book ‘Bottomly Pots all covered in spots’ isn’t she?’

Today he said to me ‘the people who made these socks want us to be late’, I asked why and he explained it was too hard to make the picture (Incredible Hulk) straight in the middle and the sock makers made it too hard!

Jimmers asked over dinner tonight how the first person was born when their was no-one before them to be born from. I have no idea what got him thinking about this but we had a conversation about the creation story in the bible and about Darwinism.

I think they both seemed quite implausible to him!

We’ve also had conversations today about the planets and what is at the centre of the earth as well as the use of question marks and exclamation marks!

I love the age of inquisity.

...of a four year old is a wonderful thing.

At my Mum’s today Jimmers wanted to come upstairs with us while we were sorting out clothes. He was primarily motivated by the idea of jumping up and down on my Mum and Dad’s bed and watching himself in the mirror.

We were fairly absorbed and then noticed Jimmers was playing a very intricate game with a peg, a glove, a reel of sellotape and a coat hanger. There was a lot of thought in what he was planning and executing!
