Final instalment: Day Forty Three!!! 2 years ago

I began my 43rd day of practicing yoga at 5:30am with salute to the sun. It felt right. I can feel just how far I have come in these 43 days in my concentration, balance, flexibility, strength, posture and breathing. I have so much more to learn and grow in my practice and I am looking forward to the future!

I hoped to squeeze in an extra practice during the day but motherly duties kept me busy. Then I went out in the evening and didn’t get back until 2am…..rather tiddly too I admit. I decided that I couldn’t end my 43rd day of practicing yoga without having a session before bed so I drunkenly got changed and insisted that hubby took some (long promised) piccies to mark the occasion! It was not the most peaceful and reflective practice I have had as it was 2:30am and alcohol knocked my balance and concentration somewhat – but it was fun and both hubby and I ended up in hysterics as I attempted a headstand and ended up doing roly polys all over the place!

I shall swallow my embarrasment and post the photos as I don’t know when I will manage to get some ‘serious’ ones. I promise to behave over in the alumni!!!

Day Forty Two 2 years ago

Finally caught up with my entries today!

For the first time in a good few days I actually got up when the alarm went off and had a little extra yoga time – I enjoyed 20 minutes of sun salutations followed by balances. It was good not to feel too rushed.

This evening I feel absolutely shattered but I did manage 30 mins using a slightly different dvd than my usual evening practice. Started with some seated postures, followed by power stretches and ending with inverted postures. Felt I really needed these tonight.

Well tomorrow is going to be my forty third day! I have been thinking about what I would like to do. I can’t decide whether to do some different practices or whether to go through my firm favourites – or hopefully – a mixture of the two! We’ll see how it goes as I also have to contend with my two year old alone tomorrow which could make yoga somewhat challenging!

Day Forty One 2 years ago

Still posting a day behind as I have been falling into bed exhausted after yoga the past few nights.

Yesterday was same as previous two days – 10 mins morning sun salutations and 25 min evening practice. Did have a bit of fun at the gym in the afternoon demonstrating some of the poses I have learnt to my gym buddy. She was rather jealous of my new flexibility and so we have vowed to find a yoga class to join together. I’m really excited about it!

Also something else yoga has given me other than a wonderful sense of inner peace, relaxation, strength and flexibility….half an inch! Yep – I was measured at the doctors this week and I have grown half an inch since begining yoga! The nurse told me she has actually grown one and half inches since starting yoga some years ago!!

Day Forty 2 years ago

Rather a sense of de ja vu ….

Didn’t get around to posting after yoga last night (was watching Desperate Housewives!) but yesterday was pretty much the same as the day before as will be the same today.

Slept longer than I meant so only had time for 10 mins of sun salutations (every morning they lift my spirit!) then ended the day with 25 min evening practice. Struggled a bit yesterday as I was sooooo cold – I was trying to do my yoga wearing two jumpers whih was a bit of a challenge!

Too tired to post yesterday but I did do the two practices that I see as the minimum I want to be doing everyday – 10 mins of sun salutations in the morning and 25 mins of kneeling postures, cross legged postures, back stretches and inverted postures before bed.

Day Thirty Eight 2 years ago

Another busy and tiring day (in a satisfying way though) -

AM: 25 mins beginning with sun salutations, followed by balances and ending with floor postures. The pose I don’t seem to be progressing in is the heron. I think I need to keep varying my practices so I’m not neglecting particular poses that are only featured on one of my dvds.

PM: Usual evening 25 min practice. Just perfect for bedtime. I stayed in shavasana for a long time tonight – I think hubby thought I’d fallen asleep!

Quite tired and busy today so pretty much stuck to my usual routine (only counting as one) -

AM: 20 mins inc sun salutations and balances. Little Jimmers shouting on encouragement again!

PM: 25 mins kneeling and seated postures and ending with inverted postures. Another headstand attempt/roly poly!

Day Thirty Six 2 years ago

I have just clocked my numbers and realised that if I count my practices today as two then I have completed my 43 practices in 36 days! That means I have had two decent sessions (20 mins or longer) in one day on seven occasions!

I began today with a 20 minutes practice including sun salutations and balances. Little Jimmers came and joined me for a bit and again put in a pretty good effort for a two year old – he was really double checking to make sure he had the poses right bless him!

I have just ended the day with 55 minute practice beginning with salute to the sun (seemed strange in the evening but great nevertheless)and warrier postures, trees, dancers, big toe stretches, lots of forward bends and back stretches (my chin finally touches my knees – hurrah!), half locust, sailing boat, crecent moons, pelvic tilt, wheel (my head actually came of the ground – yay!) and moving onto cat, kneeling twists, camel, lotus, scales and star before ending with shoulder stand, bridge, plough and finally headstand. No hubby to hold my legs up today so I had to go it alone – I managed a few seconds with my legs bent but I couldn’t straighten them at all without someone to grab my legs! I will not give up!!!

Finally, a wonderful shavasana – am going to fall into bed now! Think I will stay at 30 in 30 until I get to day 43 (I want to know I have practiced yoga for 43 days in a row) before I fully graduate to the alumni!

Day Thirty Five 2 years ago

No time to post last night as I went out to celebrate my anniversary. I was a little pushed for time again yesterday but I did manage 10 mins of sun salutations in the morning and then 20 minutes of postures aimed at thighs, bottom and stomach before I went out on the evening.

Oooh and I did a few forward bends to stretch everything out after my gym session too.

Day Thirty Four 2 years ago

Really drained and exhausted today and managed to oversleep for the first time in a while this morning so I have only done the bare minimum today.

10 mins including sun salutations this morning and then my fave 25 min evening practice. Glad I did both even if only very short practices as I do feel better afterwards. My body still aches but my mind feels clearer and lighter.

Going to sleep now…........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
