$600 saved and $400 balance left for pay-off

Roughly 10 hours of work, two phone calls and 3 e-mails freed up $50 a month. That is $600 saved annually.

$400 left on one card – two more payments left!

Perseverance and self-discipline are key

While we would all love to win the lottery or have an unexpected windfall which will magically solve our financial woes, the reality is that this problem can only be solved by self-discipline (controlling what we spent) and perseverance (chipping away at the debt mountain by paying as much as we can towards debt reduction). It is not an easy task but if it was, it would not be a problem to begin with. :)

The other important thing is to not despair. It may seem like an insurmountable problem but it IS do-able and worthwhile. Every dollar reduced is important. So hang in there!!!

Just a shout-out to all of us with this goal! :)

Reduce cost

So far, savings per month = $130
1) Netflix plan change – $10
2) TV plan change – $35
3) XM Radio – $30
4) Second cell phone – $55

More to come = $100
1) Return flute – $55
2) Change web host – $45

Being financially independent

For me, being financially independent is contingent upon being debt-free, even the “good” debt. So the goal is to discharge all debt over the next few years, starting with the bad and finishing with the good one.
