i'm going!!! 15 months ago

a really good friend and i recently decided we’re going, next summer! we are both totally in debt and can’t afford it but this is the time! it’s now or never! and good lord i am overdue for some travelling. we won’t be able to go for too long but it is motivating me to spend less, for sure…

i will have to put this off for a while... 18 months ago

considering my debt situation. but i will take off somehow, someday.

my feet are soooo itchy. ive got to take off soon – but where? when? how? what if this london xmas thing is my motivation to get a ‘one way’ ticket?

i could specifically look for a 6 month contract/temp position in june, and then poof; GONE. who knows if / when i’m returning…

i know i’d be safe in london for a month or so, probably being able to find a crappy job.

i have an ancestry visa…i can apply for that in the interim. yes, that, and get my passport together. once i get that cleared i think it clears me to work for 5 years, so at least its a start.

london is not my first choice, but it’s one of the easiest options, all told. at least as a starting point. i’d make $$ if i stayed for a bit, and working is relatively smooth with that visa…yeeeeeeees.

it would be crazy. im so comfortable here. but the more comfortable i get with myself, the less i feel the need to define myself in terms of ‘place’. i could be anywhere, and still be me, still be good. couldn’t i?

Well, this is totally expensive and relatively unrealistic …except the London part. London is cheap to get to, and also I have a place to stay. Plus, two other friends confessed that the reason they won’t be in Vancouver next year is that they want to go to London instead to stay with our mutual friend…how fun.

So London is sort of realistic, but one week of that is about equivalent to two weeks in TO/Montreal…which is also long overdue.

The problem with being in Europe is: how could I visit London without popping over to Paris? And how could I visit Paris without popping over to Prague? That would mean I’d need 3 weeks. Travelling over the holidays would also be crazy…but, doable.

To go away properly, whether it’s Europe or TO/Montreal,

oh yeah, and I’ve only ever heard amazing things about it! plus i could use the education…i don’t know much about the history and culture of the czeck republic.

I’ve been a bit awol lately due to lack of internet…and I almost forgot about 43 things gasp!

I realized recently that I need a travel goal, and that it may not be too hard to save a couple of grand to go on a semi-substantial trip.

I’ve been wanting to Prague for years and years and a girl I know jsut got back and I’m figuring …what the hell? It will be almost 10 years since my last EU trip and I’m dying for another real trip. Plus Prague is still relatively cheap.

Either way, a concrete place to focus on may help to curb my spending (ideally!) even if it takes a few years to save $$.
