A time such as this,
I see wind beneath the waves
It’s such a perfect day
Revelations in the water
Between splashing cascades
Release regrets into the shallows
And smell the air within rain
The clear lake cools my veins
And soothes away my pains.
It’s such a perfect day.

You have where you are going next,
All I have is you.
You have from where you’ve just returned,
All I have is you.
You have me when the times you choose,
But all I have is you.
You have what you can recreate
You have the time to stitch up wounds
You have the chance to pick and choose
But all I have is you.
You have still all of your defenses,
All I have is you.
You have the people always watching,
But all I have is you.
You have your new ones close behind
You have it and you’re satisfied
All I have is you.
You have what you can wait for
Or what can wait on you
You have what you decide you have
And all I have is you.
You have your nights and afternoons
You have your open time and soon
All I will have will be you.
You have what you’ve seen on busy streets
You have what you’ve heard in times between
You have what you think it’s made you do
But all I have is you.
You have too much time
And I have that too
But all I want is You.
Impatiently, I sit and wait,
How long until you spread your wings?
As days go on in sorry state,
Impatiently, I sit and wait,
Longing for my intended fate
As your swiftness indeed will sing.
Impatiently, I sit and wait,
How long until you spread your wings?
If desolation be
My sad cup of tea,
Then let it be said of me,
That all the while i could still be free.
a flash of light illuminates
your empty eyes, but its too late
we just can’t talk about it anymore
creaking things, the kitchen sings
the silence in your ears will ring
much longer and louder the before.
Ill stand here quiet with you
let the night air freeze us through
The interstate calls your name
and never lets you leave
grab the things you want to keep
and leave the others in their sleep
the grasses and the trees still scream goodbye.
count the days until you’ll die
Ill stand here quiet with you
let the night air freeze us through
The interstate calls your name
and never lets you leave
i put my poem Grey Morning into some contest on poetry.com just on a whim and i guess it won. so now its going in some commemorative hard bound poetry book. and i got asked to go to a poetry symposium in las vegas to show case my poetic creativity and prowess. i think i put maybe 30 seconds of thought into writing that poem and now….. wierd.
You’re real sweet. You’ve always got some smiles for me
But I usually just want to weep
please just try this out with me
It took to long to figure out
That the poison is my doubt
I’m nothing to myself, but wait
You’re what I always think about.
The next day or the next day, but hopefully today.
im not mad
at you sky for
waking me with your
patters on my roof.
i find water makes
quite a ruckus
from a fall.
im wet and
disillusioned about
precipitation in general.
but im not mad
at you rain for
soaking me through,
you havent awakened
me yet.
my lofty quest, apologetic
the start of this, i now regret it
Im off away though never far
anyone else i would have picked.
Job’s lament would cry aloud
not asking why but shouting how
To call it off and go back in time
And rewrite this intrepid design
I am miles stacked on miles
empty things filled with emptiness
Carelessly think there can be a new home
and scratch away the loneliness.
its morning somewhere else
i think im over there
instead of tired eyes
and the keyboard keeping rhythm
i think i could wake up
a few hours of sleep
beat me another tune
and the Drummer speaks:
“There’s darkness outside.”
i say
“then let me back in,
we can build this bridge again”
“No this one is mine, there are
enough fires in the day.”
he says
“No, just go back to the gray”
“But it could be the great story,
of redemption, of my life!
“close your tired eyes.
theres still darkness outside”
