Visit India

My son and I went to Bangalore for a week, then to Nagarhole Wildlife Preserve, Kodagu (Orange County), and Mysore for another week. It was soo very different and so exciting. I loved the temples, animals, people, jasmine, food!!!, and watching how people get by when they just don’t have all the modern conveniences. People for the most part are slim and eat a healthy diet. It’s just so different I could go on all day. We were lucky enough to witness a traditional wedding.

If you get a chance, you must go.

The adoption agency my son stayed in for a couple of his earliest years is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. They are inviting people who were adopted from there to come back for a reunion in December/January this winter. Raja and I are planning to go spend about 10 days exploring Bangalore and some of the surrounding areas. I’m very excited. I didn’t think we’d be going this soon, but what an opportunity!!!!!

Our son Raja came to us from Bangalore India in March of 2004. He was five and a half then. He is all American now, but we are all interested in the rich culture he was born into. We didn’t know we were adopting from India until two weeks before he came, and he was already scheduled to fly to the US with an Indian escort. Otherwise, we would have flown there and stayed a while before bringing him home.

Raja, his Dad, his brother (who will be 17 or 18) and I are planning to travel to India in three or four years when Raja is 11 or 12. We will visit Bangalore for certain, and probably Mumbai. The rest of the trip is yet to be decided.

We are sooooo excited.
