Giving Up - Sort Of

because I think it’s covered under the Walk to Rivendell w/My Daughter goal.



I've changed this around a bit...

Instead of try specifically to walk 100 miles in a month – I’m going to set the goal of keepin track of the numer of miles i walk per month adn hopefully over time, I’ll be able to reach a side goal of at least one month with 100 miles in the next year (ish). :-)



November - 17.60 Miles

Well, not bad considering I ride my bike to work, but still not anywhere near my goal…I’ll give myself some points for relative consistency. Still, not very good.

I am revisiting Spark People as a motivational tool. I signed up (a few days ago…maybe week before black Friday), for a fitness challenge to walk at least a mile a day…I did it for a couple of days but haven’t really got up the energy to do it (see similar bike goal for work info). But it’s the first day of a new month and I can still get out and do it tonight before I go to bed, since I have a sweet pair of days off (together even). ;-)

Hopefully that and a friend who may walk with me some days will help me with motivation for this.

More next month!!



October 2011 - 20.57

So, I added a couple miles here, but I’ve been extremely lazy this month…mostly due to the bike worries, but also because I spent more time with a friend who doesn’t care to walk and is a mountain biker…so there is a certain incompatability with the biking ability between us (that and I’m worried about breaking mine presently without the funds to repair it…a 6 mile walk to work sucks).

I will undoubtly walk more this month because it’s now a conscious effort to get outside while the weather is nice and before it gets too cold. The afternoons are DIVINE right now!

There are approximatly 25 days left in the month…I’d have to average 4 miles a day to accomplish this goal this month…as I spent the entire weekend at home. I think that’s doable as my “usual” canal short walk/ride is 5.63, if I plan on doing that daily and cutting into it with some shorter walks on my long days (or giving me room to skip a day if absolutely necessary).

I’m going to try to sell off a few things via eBay so that I can get the repair on my bike done. :-) So that MAYBE before the end of the year I can get in 500 miles in one month on the bike!!!

Guess I know what I’m doing tomorrow after work! :-)



September 2011 - 18.92 Miles

An improvemnet (by a small amount) over August, but still nowhere near my goal…same reason as the bicycling. Need to work on that funk. :-) Nice, almost crisp mornings should be somewhat motivating….that’s new and VERY much for the happy making!!!



August 2011 - 15.12 miles

I am doing better at logging when I walk for errands or for health/pleasure. Obviously, August in Scottsdale/Phoenix Az is NOT the time I’m going to be outside a lot, so I’m ok with this, but it’s going to be time to step up my efforts (literally, heh) and start putting in more miles now that it’s cooler in the evenings. :-)



Another Null Month

I mostly rode my bike again this month. I don’t walk much in the Summer here, maybe 5-10 miles in any given month if I’m not trying to add miles for health.

So, need to figure out a way to add in time for this so that I can actuallly accomplish this goal in August.



June 2011 - 5 Miles

I really only rode my bike this month…the original intent of this goal was to round out my fitness acitvities…and walking is a good whole body acitivty. Hopefully I’ll do better in July…don’t hold your breath though, this is Scottsdale and it’s darn hot!!
