Now that my health insurance has kicked in, I will see an actual endocrinologist next week. It has been over a year since I’ve had any treatment for this. I had been going to the gym many days a week for several months…which resulted in the loss of only a few pounds. Nearing back up to 190 by some scale accounts. I also will find the gym here one day this week and try it out.

I’ve seen other people say that they have had cysts removed…my doctor has not said anything about doing anything to even see if I have them (I would think I probably do). Do I need to be concerned?
So, I’ve been taking the metformin for over two months now. It seems the fasting blood glucose level was never out of the normal range. However, the insulin has dropped from 19.2 to 7. I am wondering how long it takes for sensitivity to really increase? Of course I’m looking forward to losing some weight! I haven’t lost any at all yet. I still feel tired after I eat. I wonder if its just psychological.
nobody seems to understand how much it effects everything about my life. I feel like I am turning into an old lady even though I’m only 22. I was diagnosed two years ago. My doctor (a man) handed me a pamphlet and told me they treated it with birth control. and that was all. as i sat waiting, reading the words “incurable” and “infertility” I couldn’t help but cry. And nobody seemed to understand why. He didn’t do any thyroid test, blood sugar, or anything. But the yasmin made me feel a lot more feminine. but then for some reason we started doing depo shots and that was awful, plus it cost a lot and i am still fighting with my insurance to get them to pay for it, so i couldn’t go back to that doctor. i didn’t really want to anyway. since then, i’ve gained 40 pounds. i went to the free clinic 3 months ago and they gave me ortho tricyclin which didn’t help. but today i had an appointment with the campus doctor (wish i’d known they had gyn docs earlier) and she was very abrasive, but at least she understood the disease and is going to do the blood work. hopefully i can fast starting at midnight and get it over with tomorrow. and she said she found that yasmin was preferred with her pcos patients. so i went to get the prescription filled and they said it cost $50. I knew i couldn’t afford that every month, but i wanted it so badly. i decided to call to make sure the insurance wouldn’t pay…after much fighting with automated systems, I found out it does and went back to get a refund. $10 a month is much more do-able for me. So, I am excited that I might be on the right track to getting this managed. I still wish I could be surprised with pregnancy. But oh well. by the way, congradulations to those who did manage to conceive! Oddly, irregular periods have not been a symptom for me. I am hoping that the bc doesn’t make it too much harder to conceive when i finally stop taking it though. does anyone have any more info on what it is like to be pregnant with PCOS? Sorry to ramble, its just really comforting to talk about this to people who understand. i saw some other support sites when i was looking for info, but I prefer the 43 things crowd.
