... however, i want to keep it on my 43T list.
we still haven’t made it out of the country yet this year. Canada is our likely destination.

my husband and i went to my childhood town of Las Vegas mainly for work purposes. thankfully, i did enough pre-trip work to accomplish the task quickly.
we were able to spend more than half the trip as a vacation.
we explored some of the surrounding nature.
i allowed myself to be spontaneous and we ended up taking a a day trip to Los Angeles (mainly the West Hollywood area), and check out some architectural gems … the highlight being, Rudolph Schindler ’s personal home on Kings Road.
this weekend, my husband and i left our city and headed for the woods.
it’s been less than a month, but that’s all right. during the winter we seem to have trouble leaving our house on weekends.
in the future, i want to change that habit, so we truly are living our metro area once a month and leaving our country once a year.
my husband and i just got back from spending a weekend at his family’s cottage, which is in another state. more than two hours away from our city.
we were out in the wilderness, though ironically close enough to get really good internet and cellphone service. this is the first time i’ve experienced good cellphone reception.
haven’t done much with computers there … but since a laptop was available, i had to get in my daily gratitude posts over at the happiness manifesto team page. other than that we didn’t use technology.
overall, it was a great escape for us. short, but great. did a lot of exploring. had some neat encounters with wild animals and not so wild animals. went canoeing, rowing, light hiking, reading, great conversations. and some chores. my husband and the rest of the boys did some serious chores.
it was great getting away.
