Well, I did run out and get 2 books, for testing IQ, or just challenging the brain. Also, as part of my “Run 5K” goal I had picked up a stopwatch. One of the books I have been browsing, seeing what sorts of difficulties I would have. It is interesting the sort of problems I find easy versus the ones I find difficult. Most of those visual transformation questions are easy for me, but there are other types that are very difficult. The one book has about 30 tests, and if you wish to test yourself, you are supposed to take the test with a 90 minute time limit. I have to admit that my “Run 5K” goal is primary right now, and I am reading 2 other books currently, but I will have to continue to visit these IQ/brain challenge books and exercise my brain until I feel confident enough to take the test for real.
Benjamin has written 2 entries about this goal
I believe I am a fairly bright person, and I think this is an achievable goal. I don’t think that measured I.Q. is as innate as some people believe, and that you can work on it.
I have a close friend who has travelled the world, and is almost finished with his PhD and so to compensate, I told him I would attempt to out-bad ass him by becoming a Mensa Black Belt. I mean, Mensa “Yeah, I’m smart” and Black Belt “I’m a martial arts master who could probably beat you up.” Is there really any more bad ass of a combination? Perhaps after achieving both of these goals I could start my own Mensa Black Belt society, but it would be secretive. A Ninja Mensa Black Belt clan perhaps?
Anyways, that is the goofy side of it. Later today I will run to a book store or 2 and look for those brain quiz, Mensa-type books so that I can hone my skills a bit and see where I stand. Then when I feel comfortable with that I can apply for some local testing.
Good Luck future Mensans!
