I tired to uninstall a program, and along with erasing itself, it also erased every file on my computer. I was horrified when I found all my folders empty; years of work, gone just like that. But I found a program called ParetoLogic, which recovered everything for me. I’ve never been so relieved in my life. It cost over $50, but it’s well worth it.

Oh my, I totally forgot to write an entry about this. My brother’s cat had two kittens. They are the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!
Kittens are very helpful for this goal; it’s so much fun watching them, I’m always enjoying my time with them.
My brother’s cat just jumped up unto my laptop and broke off five keys. Luckily, the buttons under the missing keys still work, and I know where the period, the arrow keys, and the right shift is, so I don’t actually need to see the keys. Of course, the tiny buttons are not very comfortable to push, but I’m happy that everything is still working.
My cat peed on my bed >:(
But at least I didn’t sit in it :)
I’m trying to be a Pollyanna and see the good in every situation. Sometimes I can’t see anything good, but sometimes I surprise myself.
I went on a scavenger hunt today. It rained, and I got soaked, but it was a lot of fun.
I’ve been feeling depressed lately, and the scavenger hunt cheered me up a little :)
I’m not totally out of the woods though.
I’m in class right now. It’s a computer class, made to be functional; white walls, steel grey blinds on the windows. The blinds are closed on every window except one.
The sun is setting; the sky is orange and pink, the clouds are purple, and trees are silhouetted against the sky. It looks like a beautiful painting on the stark white wall.
Better get back to work now before the teacher catches me on 43T.
Update at 06:33PM PDT
OK, class is over now…and the sky changed to violet and a beautiful deep red. Much nicer than a static painting, eh?
Another funny incident:
Once while I was working as a vet tech, I had to feed a dog. Sounds like a simple thing, right? But when I opened the kennel door to put the food inside, the dog rushed out and tried to get away. She had long hair, so I could grab onto it. So I was down on the floor, wrestling with this really hyper dog, and the whole time I was thinking, ‘If I let her get away, I’m going to look like a fool.’
Luckily this happened in the grooming room, and I could kick the door closed so she wouldn’t get out. Once the door was closed, I could let the dog go (there was nowhere for her to run in the small room), and I managed to get her back in the kennel, along with the bowl of food. After the wrestling match, I was out of breath and sweating like a horse. And since I was down on the grooming room floor, I came out covered in dog hair. I thought the others might ask what happened in there, but they were busy with other things and didn’t notice.
So that’s the difference between a nurse and a vet tech; nurses don’t have to deal with this kind of behaviour from their patients. I suppose nurses have some funny stories too, but probably nothing as crazy as what goes on in a vet clinic.
The way I see it, there are two ways to do this (enjoy each day).
1 – Spend some time each day doing things you enjoy.
2 – See the good in every situation, and notice those funny moments and smile.
With number 1, you create your own enjoyment. With number 2, you can decide to have some fun even if you’re not in control of the situation.
I think it’s best to use both ways, rather than just one. However, I think number 1 is the more important of the two, because while number 1 is always possible, number 2 isn’t always feasible (some situations have nothing good or funny about them).
The biggest obstacle to number 1 is time; there never seems to be enough time… but even a few minutes can make a big difference, and we can all find a few minutes if we try.
Another funny moment:
I was recently helping my mother to move some things to a new apartment. For reasons I won’t go into, we used shopping carts instead of a truck. It was exhausting and I had numerous accidents dragging the cart accross the city on public transit, but I made a joke out of it…I said that we’re the Shopping-Cart Movers: Moving One Box at a Time. A little humor can brighten up grim situations :)
(she did get a truck in the end, so we didn’t have to move everything one by one; that would have been far beyond the help of any humor)
I decided to post some funny moments here.
Once I had to take the subway accross the city. I was having a very bad day and I had a stomach ache. When the train went into the tunnel I saw my reflection in the window; I was standing with my hand on my stomach inside my coat. It reminded me of Napoleon and made me smile.
