Last week was a Christmas week so I watched a lot of movies.
- Avatar – 9/10 because it made me forget the real world, after I went out of the cinema and started to think about the plot I wasn’t so satisfied. It’s one-time experience.
- De Niro – “The Fan”, “The King of Comedy” and “Brazil”, all of them with him acting outstandingly
- Gary Oldman – “The Scarlet Letter” and “The Fifth Element” both quite good, though Jovovich behaves like a retard
- two good, quite recent thrillers “Orphan” and “The Hole”
- “I, Robot” a good watch
- “Planet of the Apes” seriously, Burton was high or something when he directed this piece of shit
- “The Countess” Elizabeth Bathory is such an amazing historical character but the movie was average
- “Candy” – quite unconventional but still a love story
neriende has written 6 entries about this goal
- The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) is the best movie I’ve ever seen. The actress playing main character is amazing.
- I finally forced myself to watch “Philadelphia”, what can I say, undoubtedly good and important..but still difficult to watch
- “Basic Instint” – my mother told me many years ago what the ending was and I couldn’t forget it, maybe because of that I couldn’t get excited about the movie
- “Half Nelson” – Gosling was good as always but the movie was quite average
- Oh, oh, I’ve forgotten to mention that Byrne was a terrific devil in “The End of Days”
“Fargo”, “Brother Were Are You?”, “Barton Fink” and “No Country For Old Men”. There’s something wrong about their movies. I somehow can’t get involved. I appreciate their movies but I don’t enjoy eatching them.
- My new discovery is Woody Harleson, he’s so ugly that he’s handsome (“Zombieland”, “People vs Larry Flynt” and “Indecent Proposal”)
- some King (“Creepshow”, “Langoliers”, “Pet Semetery” up to date I think that his prose is better than its movies adaptations)
- James Spader is aging and it’s difficult to see someone, who was such a hotty once, looking as his own father (“The Watcher”), but you can always see his older movies (“The Mannequin”, “Pretty in Pink”)
- finally I saw the first Polish movie which received an Oscar. Unfortunately Polański’s “Knife in the Water” was a dissapointment.
- two more amibitious horror movies which I wouldn’t call horrors: “Dont Look Now” (I’m currently reading the short story collection where it appeared for the first time; the movie was interesting and extraordinary) and “In the Company of Wolves” (Freud already noticed that fairy tales are full of sexual symbols but to see it on the screen was an interesting experience)
- “2012” and “2012: Doomsday”, the first one was so Hollywoodish that I nearly vomited but the special effects were great, the second one, well, maybe god wanted me to see it, haha
more Polański so “Bitter Moon”
“Mysterious Skin” interestin but provocative
Cronenberg “The Brood”, “Scanners” and “Videodrome”(“Saw” and “Untraceable” don’t seem so innovative anymore), btw I want to marry the guy
Argento, finally “Phenomena” great
“Hibernatus” I still consider de Funes to be the best comedy actor
Kieślowki’s “Three colours: blue”, too much pathos but definitely worth watching
Parker’s “Life of David Gale” very good, though quite predictable at some point
vampire movies represented by “Thirst” and “Hunger”
Demi Moore had some good movies e.g. “St. Elmo’s Fire” but she also played in “We’re no angels” a movie which was a bitter de Niro-Penn disappointment
there were more but as I don’t remember them they probably aren’t worth mentioning
