I have sorted through all the stuff. The stuff that is now in the basement has definitely got to go somewhere—either to the next garage sale (a week from Saturday) and/or to the Salvation Army. Some of the remaining stuff is Christmas glasses and mugs that I can fill with candy or something and give as gifts. Most of the remaining stuff is for my big tree, and here is my deal with myself: I get to keep that stuff only if I actually put the tree up again this year. If I fail to put up the tree and trimmings, then out it all goes when the New Year comes in!

I was there at the sale at daybreak today, with a car full of Christmas stuff and other assorted junk, and the rains came, and the sale was postponed for two weeks. Now I’ve got to unload my car. At least I got this far. Progress, of a sort, but certainly not what I’d hoped for.
A friend has invited me to her apartment complex yard sale this Saturday morning, and I plan to be there with all my excess Christmas stuff. Furthermore, I plan to take whatever is unsold to the Salvation Army afterwards.
I was thinking that the stuff that I actually put out this year is the stuff to keep for now, and the stuff that I didn’t put out has gotta go somewhere else, whether I give it away or put it out in the trash.
Looks like I’ve given away more stuff than I had remembered. But I do have two Christmas trees, a big (regular-sized) one and a small (table-top-sized) one. They were stored down in the closet of the bedroom where my houseguest is staying, apart from where the rest of the Christmas stuff (including the tree decorations) is stored.
My friend got the two trees out of her closet last week, and had some problems setting up the big tree. I’ve never successfully set up the big tree myself since my mom gave it to me a couple of years ago. Haven’t figured out how to make it stand up in the stand. I think if we still haven’t figured it out in the next few days, then that big tree definitely has to go.
And even if we do figure it out, and get it set up and decorated for Christmas this year, I think I may still have to find a new home for it somewhere else after the Christmas season is over.
