I needed to step up a notch with this goal 19 months ago

and I came across this last night so Thanks Claire for starting this goal, it is much more inspiring than just “be positive”. It’s funny how just re-wording a goal can give you more energy towards achieving it!

I thought positively at work last night and it paid off!!!

It's funny to read in a novel 1 year ago

about how thinking positive thoughts can have a positive impact in your life. At the end of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett the final chapter is about that, and to think it was first published in 1911. This is what she says at the beginning of the last chapter

“One of the new things people began to find out in the last century was that thoughts – just mere thoughts – are as powerful as electric batteries – as good for one as sunlight is, or as bad for one as poison. To let a sad thought or a bad one get into your mind is as dangerous as letting a scarlet fever germ get into your body. If you let it stay there after it has got in you may never get it out as long as you live.”

A bit further on she says:

“Much more surprising things can happen to anyone who, when a disagreeable or discouraged thought comes into his mind, just has the sense to remember in time and push it out by putting in an agreeable, determinedly courageous one. Two things cannot be in one place.

Where you tend a rose, my lad,
A thistle cannot grow."

Such profound wisdom to be found in a children’s classic book!!!

I have been working on this 2 years ago

I have done some of the lessons on http://moodgym.anu.edu.au which has helped me get a bit more control over my thinking.
