Speak Cantonese

I’ve now sampled the teach yourself Cantonese tape onto my computer, ready for MP3ing and subsequent transfer onto my mobile for daily revision.

Oh and I’ve got a deadline. I’ve booked a holiday to see my brother in Hong Kong at the end of March. So I’ve got 2 months to learn something. I want to string a sentence or two together, and actually be understood. I think another test will be to understand at least a sentence or two spoken by a local!

Months ago I brought one of those books with the audio tape to help me learn from ebay. I’ve had this little plan to load it all onto my mobile so I can listen and read on the train into work. Practising speaking is going to raise a few eyebrows!

This plan took a step closer on Tuesday when I purchased a sony memory stick from play.com. Hasn’t arrived yet, as it is arriving by recorded delivery. The next step is to find some way of recording it off a tape into MP3s, as I think all my tape decks have had it (rubber bands have probably deteriorated!).
