I travelled to Ukraine a few summers ago and worked with orphans at a camp. Some of them were deaf. It was really interesting to communicate with them and observe how they interacted with eachother. That is what inspired me to try and learn. What was really cool was that they had Ukrainian Sign Language booklets prepared for the leaders. This was helpful and I still have mine. They are amazing kids. They did not want to be treadd any different from the rest of the kids at the camp and managed to participate in all activities, from hiking to break dancing!
