I had a couple of good cards from people and I started to think I was really going to enjoy it, but in the end it seems like every card I received was the same shallow lack of communication. I’m not satisfied with the “Hello from BLANK. The weather here is BLANK. I like BLANK.” And that’s the end of the communication forever. And the environmental aspects were starting to bother me, it’s not enough for me to justify using the money and fuel to send a card around the world. Offsetting the carbon footprint is good, if you can do the whole thing; plus there are too many people in my life that I should be writing too because I know them and one of my other goals is to keep in touch with people.
So…good idea…bad end result.

One of the cards I sent took fourty-some days to get to Germany and it arrived marked “missent to Bangkok, Thailand”. How strange.
I also got a great card from a little girl in France, so I sent her back another letter, maybe this will turn out to be an actual pen pal?
I don’t know when I’m calling this done, probably when I run out of the stamps I bought.

I sent out six or seven cards and about 5 of them have arrived so far and they’ve been well received. I liked the cards I got, although there’s so little room to actually write that I feel like I’m not really getting that much contact.
There have been some beautiful cards, but I wonder if people would draw their own if I asked them to?

I got an e-mail for the girl in Sweden saying she got the card I sent her. So now I’m in line to receive a card and I can send off another one. The excitement builds.

But it’s an awesome idea. I love postcards and I love the idea of sending them around the world. I’m going to try sending five postcards and see what happens.
Well, actually I’m starting with 3, because that’s what I had time for. And they are getting postcards of The Mystery Spot in all it’s 1950’s glory, because that’s what I had on hand. So I’m going to mail these off today, and we’ll see what kind of response they provoke. I can’t wait to get my own postcards in return.
And.. I actually mailed them off today as well and bought postage stamps for more.
