I ran over on my 45 min lunch break and managed to hit the market for just a few items: onions, zucchini, spinachh, and PEACHES! Those peaches were incredible. Juicy and sweet and tender and perfect. That was all I had time for and it made me sad, but that’s life.

Since I’m traveling, I’m getting a chance to visit someone else’s farmers market. So watch out Las Cruces, NM it’s 8 am Wednesday morning and I’m set out to see what you’re about.
I walked up and down the rows of vendors and selected the fruit and veggies I wanted to have for the week. I would make a big pot of pasta sauce and a potato medley and get a few other things to have on hand. I generally cook a lot on Wednesday and the boyfriend and I eat leftovers until they’re gone. For our meal of that evening, there were some beautiful looking sausages and I bought some Shitaki mushrooms and then I went home and wrecked it! It made me feel very negative…but the pasta sauce still turned out beautifully and the potatoes were very good, so not a complete disaster.
Next Week: Peach (or Apricot) Butter
I’d like to make it to the one Farmer’s Market each week. My area has three different market days that I could possibly attend. There’s no excuse for me not making it once a week.
I went today, I bought a whole flat of strawberries to make jam. I also got good orgainc bi-color corn for much cheaper than I get at my health food store. I also got crazy-sweet heirloom tomatos and excellent Warron (sp?) pears.
