create art

So I painted yesterday. I’m not a painter.

I’m part of a project that’s making stationary bikes that generate electricity and power electronic art projects and we needed to paint the flywheels for the bikes. I got to mimic Duchamps retinal art aesthetic and produce a bit of my own art. It was really fun and I can’t wait to see them spinning.

My boyfriend and I tried something new the other day. We followed along to a Bob Ross Video despite neither one of us knowing much about oil painting. It was really frustrating, but also fun. There was definitely some trick we missed or some technique we didn’t get right, because we couldn’t make his instructions happen.

It was still fun and creative and it felt really good. We both want to work more on our images.

I love making art and I never set aside the time to do so. The other day I needed to make a sign for work and I made this poster in a few hours. It’s really a rough mash-up, but just being that extra drop of creative felt so good. I need to make something once a week, it might not be fine art but I want it to get the juices going.
