Past the plateau 1 month ago
I’ve finally got under the several month long plateau, and made it into the 80s. I wasn’t able to do the 50km walk as I didn’t receive my new insoles in time to break them in. But have signed up for a 15km run/walk in late November. Am training more often and harder now, and controlling my food a little more strictly, so hopefully the weight will drop a little faster!

Next milestone reached! 3 months ago
I have recently finished 6 months of a horrid medication to treat a benign growth (side effects include drastic weight gain), but this time I continued to lose weight. I reached my next milestone of 30kg lost! I have been walking a lot. I am training for a 50km charity walk this year, so my walking distances are increasing rapidly. My progress on this goal feels so slow, but I’m definitely getting somewhere!

Operation recovery 11 months ago
My operation in November has put a dent into this goal, my weight has increased by 5kg because I did not exercise during the recovery. Taking things easy did help me recover faster, but after the operation, and a few bouts of the flu and bronchitis, I’ve lost the gains I made, both in fitness and in weight loss.
Walking for long distances, or up long hills is much more difficult, than it was after my trip to Japan.
I’ll get the fitness back, although it may take a while, and lose the weight again, but it has been rather a nasty blow to my confidence and motivation.

Fitness 17 months ago

My recent overseas trip contained an incredible amount of walking. I can really tell the difference when I walk up hills or stairs. My weight is still 20kg down, but increased slightly during my trip (muscle increase, size decrease). Little by little, I am getting there.

One large goal down 19 months ago

So far 20kg lost from my highest weight, and back to double figures. It’s very hard going, especially when dealing with several severe injuries, and bouts of illness, both of which prevent me from exercising. It seems that exercise is the key for me. Altering my diet without adding a lot of exercise, doesn’t seem to affect my weight. My upcoming overseas trip (Japan) should see another drop in weight, with all the walking and easy access to light, delicious food!

The recent month long ‘no carb’ diet, even though it was horrible, helped me to lose 12kg. Unfortunately 2kg came back as retained water when I started back on my normal diet, but I haven’t put any more back on. Being very sick in June effectively wiped out any thought of exercise. Hopefully back on the losing wagon soon!
