pay off my debt

American Express offers a free credit report and score every 12 months to it’s cardholders so I took advantage yesterday. It all looks good and my score is excellent. Made me happy that all the stuff I have been doing over the last couple of years is paying off.

The car title showed up today. I just have to go to the DOL and apply for a clear title and it is officially mine.

I just checked my car loan and found out that my payoff is $403! I just made my payment, but I think I might see if I can afford to send them the remainder now. Very exciting! :o)

I’m made a substantial dent in what I owe. I received 2 pay increases in 2008 and will receive another on my next check. This is helping me complete this goal quicker. I also pay my car off in 4 more payments. I’d use my tax return to pay it off, but that money is already going to something else. My sweetie may add my son to his insurance which will free up even more money to put towards my debt.

I’ve just paid off two smaller bills this month.

I have continued with my spreadsheet to track my balances.

There have been a couple creditors who have sent me letters about increasing my interest rates, but I have opted out so I could continue to pay off the balances at the lower rate. I haven’t been using the cards anyway. I’ve been told I didn’t receive the letters because I’ve done anything wrong, that it is because of the “current economic conditions”. Pretty lame if you ask me, especially since I always pay my bills on time and always pay more than the minimum due. Why increase my rates if I pay on time? Oh well, I’ll be done with them soon enough.

I am starting to get a little discouraged. One of my creditors sent me a letter saying they would be increasing my interest rate substantially. I have never been late on this card and usually pay more than is due. In fact I have reduced my amount owed by almost $1000 since last year. The only way I could avoid the increase in interest rate is to opt out and never use the card again so I did it. I hadn’t been using it anyway so now I have sent the letter and cut the card into teeny tiny pieces.

My boyfriend is suggesting we take some of the equity out of the house to pay off my debt but I really don’t want to.

I’m starting to rethink my decision not to use a credit counselor. I just don’t know…. ugh!!!!

It ends up between the money I made working with my aunt and some other found money I am able to pay off all I spent on Christmas. I thought I would going to be short, but I did it. Yah me!

bazaar with my brother, but did work with my aunt for one day and made a nice paycheck from that. I am supposed to be getting my $$$ soon. I plan on finishing up my Christmas shopping with it when I receive it. I have been refraining from using the cards this Christmas and have actually made some progress in paying some things off over the last few months. It is going to take some time, but I am well on my way with this goal.

My brother invited me to go to a craft bazaar with him and sell some of my stained glass. I need to get a few items together in a month so I can join him. He usually does pretty well and we both have very different styles so it should work well. I’m very excited at the thought of being able to make some extra money doing something I really enjoy!
